VoltDB Promotes David Flower to CEO

By Ken Briodagh March 29, 2017

In a recent announcement, VoltDB, an enterprise-class in-memory database designed to act as the power behind business-critical applications, has announced that it has appointed David Flower to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Previously, he had most recently served as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer, according to the announcement.

The company said that Flower is bringing nearly three decades of IT leadership experience to the CEO spot at VoltDB. The release said that he has built shareholder value again and again for global software companies, including in his previous role at VoltDB, and will now focus primarily on expanding VoltDB’s worldwide footprint in specific markets identified as strategic targets for the company.

Since joining VoltDB as Chief Revenue Officer last year, Flower has re-architected the company’s entire go-to-market strategy, achieving:

  • Industry alignment with deep domain expertise;
  • Expanded value-based messaging to more effectively demonstrate core product value;
  • Deeper investment into IoT;
  • Restructuring of Sales & Marketing by vertical; and
  • International expansion to support the rapid growth of global clients.

Prior to joining VoltDB, Flower served as Vice President EMEA for Carbon Black Inc. He has held senior executive positions in numerous successful global software companies, including Everbridge, as Senior Vice President International; Compuware, as Vice President EMEA in the APM division and UK Managing Director; Gomez, as Vice President EMEA; and MapInfo, where he served as Group Vice President, International. He also held senior management roles at Lotus Development and Xerox.

“I am excited to be leading the company through this next stage of accelerated growth,” said Flower. “Our customer base speaks volumes to the true enterprise-grade capability of our product, and we intend to fully capitalize on the market opportunities where we add unique value.”
