Driver Safety and Costs Keep Decision Makers Awake

By Greg Tavarez December 15, 2022

Employee management is a challenge for any decision maker because of the consequences that come with poor judgment, such as reduced profits and productivity losses. More often than not though, these mistakes, when made in the office, are eventually rectified. On the other hand, employees in company vehicles on the road are harder to manage.

Netradyne is gaining a better understanding of the challenges SMBs face, particularly with commercial fleets that consist of five or more vehicles. Netradyne is a SaaS provider of AI and edge computing solutions focused on safety and driver coaching for commercial fleets.

The two things that are top of mind for SMB fleets are driver safety and financial concerns.

Almost all SMBs trust their drivers. That said, driver safety is on the mind for over half of the SMB fleets in the study. Think about it. Driving habits are hard to break. A driver can have a clean record but still engage in risky road behaviors such as smartphone usage on the road. This poses a risk of personal injuries for the driver and the people around them.

To loop in financial concerns, fuel costs are obviously a factor, but so is the result of bad driving behaviors. SMBs show great concern for losing just one vehicle in their fleet because of the financial blow. For some businesses, business decision-makers managing fleets are one bad accident away from going out of business.

That is why better driving behavior makes good financial sense. To reduce risk and fuel costs, smarter driver safety solutions, such as those from Netradyne, need to be implemented.

Netradyne allows users to see what’s going on every second of every mile by analyzing risks, save time by connecting remotely with drivers and recommend videos so drivers can self-coach.

As the study suggests, SMBs need to foster a safety-first culture. With a more accurate driving score, decision makers can then reward positive driving behavior and coach improvement areas, keeping drivers engaged with company culture and increase profitability.
