IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Mulesoft, Sprint, Microsoft

By

Happy Earth Day, IoT Evolvers. Hope you had a good one. The industry celebrated and we showed you how at IoTEvolutionWorld.com in a special report this week. Sprint is helping vendors take over the IoT with its Command Center.

The IoT is expensive, we learned this week, but how expensive? And will it be worth it? Now, thanks to Mulesoft, we can find out. Spoiler alert: yes.

On our Drone channel, we reported that the FAA is getting a bit more permissive with private drone operations. This week, the administration issued a variance to agricultural insurance company ADM Crop Risk Services to fly inspection drones over insured crops to make claim decisions.

In the fast-developing world of Fog Computing, we saw a new kind of Ethernet switch and machine learning and, most exciting this week, Microsoft expanded its Azure platform yet again to bring edge computing solutions into the fold. Watch out IoT world: Microsoft is coming for you.

Over in the Smart Home, a Norway company has unveiled and shipped a huge order for biometric fingerprint scanners for securing connected devices in the home. Seems like a cool plan, guys. And in Smart Transportation, development house Wind River has made big strides toward autonomous cars with new safety-conscious monitoring software.

Keep reading folks, and we will keep the news coming over here on IoT Evolution World. Hey – and don’t forget to register for the IoT Evolution Expo.
