IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Cisco, SAP, Polaris

By

Hey folks, happy Week in Review from IoT Evolution World headquarters. Some big news happened this week, and we’ll get to it in just a bit, but first, we’re already getting ready for the IoT Evolution Expo in Las Vegas show in July. If you want to get in on it as a sponsor or exhibitor, now’s the time, so hook up with Matt Gleeson, our Biz Dev maestro.

But now, the news:

Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Jasper Technologies, a privately held company based in Santa Clara that delivers a cloud-based IoT service platform designed to help enterprises and service providers launch, manage and monetize IoT services on a global scale. Under the terms of the agreement as announced, Cisco will pay $1.4 billion in cash and assumed equity awards, plus additional retention based incentives.

MultiTech Systems, a manufacturer of M2M and IoT devices, has announced a field trial with WaterBit, an agricultural services provider based in Sunnyvale, California, of a system using IoT gateways, LoRa technology, LoRaWAN modules and WaterBit sensors to access valuable data from numerous endpoints throughout dense field sites without dependence on cellular coverage.

SuperCom, a global provider of secure solutions for the e-Government, Public Safety, HealthCare, and Finance sectors, has announced that it has a method for doing just that. Its IoT division has signed a $2.5 million agreement with a large South American cargo management company to deliver its PureLock suite, a hybrid of products and applications for the tracking and monitoring of assets customized for the Transportation and Cargo/Freight management sector.

This week on the IoT Time Podcast, I spoke with SAP about mobile technology for IoT and Polaris eBikes about how smarter technology can mean Smart Connected Transportation – and fun.

There’s plenty more to read, listen to and watch, so visit us on IoT Evolution World for all the IoT news, my friends. Keep the IoT Evolution Expo in Fort Lauderdale in your calendar.
