We had an incredible first day here at IoT Evolution Expo. It was 113 degrees out on the strip in Las Vegas, but we were full of nothing but icy cool IoT technology all day.
We started by going four deep with the IoT API Hotlist, Connected Home and IoT Developers workshops, and the IoT Security Certification classes. Hundreds of attendees were certified in IoT security, and are taking back to their companies’ real valuable, concrete strategic learning that will lead to improved business outcomes.
The keynote roster for the day started with a bang, with John Rossman, author of “The Amazon Way on IoT” giving the audience a taste of how Amazon’s successful business strategies can translate to improved processes in IoT implementations.
During the next keynote, Aaron Allsbrook of ClearBlade and Hamid Montazeri of Stanley Black & Decker told us all how a large corporation with lots of ways to use IoT developed a framework for evaluating the systems they needed and how Clearblade fulfilled the objectives.
The EdgeX Foundry dropped some knowledge about application interoperability at the edge, thanks to excellent info from Jason Shepherd of Dell and Galeal Zino at NetFoundry.
In fact, I sat down with Zino, CEO and co-founder of NetFoundry, a Tata group incubated company, for a great live episode of
IoT Time podcast about smoothing network integrations, implementations and secure solutions.
Finally, we closed out the day with some cold beverages and an amazing panel of blockchain experts, talking about how the IoT can use blockchain technologies to implement security, privacy and powerful analytics. Allison Clift-Jennings of Filament, Ashley Clift-Jennings of Clift & Co and Nevada State Senator Ben Kieckhefer and moderator Jason Brett, Policy Ambassador for ConsenSys, discussed where Blockchain is being used, how it will impact IoT, and what the opportunities are that can drive industries.
It was an incredible first day.
