IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Fujitsu, Oracle, Qualcomm

By

Welcome to the IoT Evolution Week in Review, my friends. This week, it’s all about Smart City, Healthcare, Autonomous Cars and more in this IoT Evolution Week in Review Let’s get into it, shall we?

In our lead story, Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories have made public a new development in sensor data analysis technology. The new product is designed to aggregate vibration data with sensors attached to the surface of a bridge, and then estimate the degree of the bridge's internal damage through the application of “FUJITSU Human Centric AI Zinrai technology.” This technology is an approach to artificial intelligence and it was validated recently using data obtained from verification tests of fatigue degradation of bridges carried out by the Research Association for Infrastructure Monitoring System (RAIMS), a mutual aid organization that carries out joint research into technologies used in industrial activities.

In a wonderful guest column from Clay Aiena, Technology Leader, CIO, StoneGate Senior Living, we read about how Americans are aging and new technological advances, especially in the age of the IoT, are presenting exciting opportunities to address the healthcare needs of the booming senior population while keeping the cost of patient care under control.

And now, the news: Spire Global has made public two new machine learning and analytics products backed by data from a huge constellation of ship-tracking satellites. Both products make finding vessels and information about them easier and faster by utilizing Spire’s easily accessible analytics API.

Oracle and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will be working together to develop an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform for Smart Factories.

CalAmp, an Internet of Things (IoT) enablement solutions provider, recently announced the release of its new CalAmp Telematics Suite, designed to enable companies to manage a diverse set of assets, including vehicles, equipment, and packages anywhere and at any time with one common application.

Schneider Electric, the global energy management and automation provider, has made public its new contract to provide comprehensive process automation systems, solutions and services to Dangote Oil Refinery, a subsidiary of African business conglomerate Dangote Group.

Qualcomm Technologies, has introduced its new Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) commercial solution for Autonomous and Connected Cars, based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 14 specifications for PC5-based direct communications, the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset.

On the IoT Time Podcast, I sat down with Richard Moulds, General Manager, Whitewood, to talk about IoT data management, security and encryption.

Over the last few years, I have seen some major trends forming across nearly every vertical in the consumer and industrial spaces, and these trends looked like they were pointing toward a future where the IoT would indeed be improving the lives and living conditions of people all over the world, and so I decided to begin writing a book in order to look for patterns in those trends. That book, published recently, is called “IoT Time: Evolving Trends in the Internet of Things.

There’s plenty more to read, listen to and watch, so visit us on IoT Evolution World for all the IoT news, my friends.
