ClearBlade, Inc. Slashes IoT Scalability Record-Connects 1M Devices Via Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure

By

Last week, high-growth enterprise IoT software company, ClearBlade, Inc., announced that it had set a new IoT scalability record as it pertains to number of connected devices that can use a single server.

ClearBlade was able to run and maintain 1 million Edge platform connections on it’s IoT Cloud Platform using one, single Oracle bare metal server by utilizing the raw power of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure. For large enterprise, which is ClearBlade’s target clientele, this translates to 100 million real-time connected devices.

Why should that matter?

The number of IoT-connected devices is annually increasing at a break-neck rate; even the most conservative estimates predict that the number of connected devices will surge to at least 24 billion by 2025.

And with high growth comes high-cost; unless scalability joins the fray.

Built from an “enterprise-first” perspective, the ClearBlade IoT Platform will provide the necessary muscle for realizing IoT’s potential to vastly improving sweeping variety of enterprise applications such as smart buildings, smart factories, and connected assets.

Being that IoT communication will require both real-time device transparency and low-latency, development is proving more challenging than traditional large-scale cloud solutions have been in the past. The ClearBlade IoT Platform, however, will enable companies to build scalable, real-time IoT solutions that run securely on the cloud, edge, or on-premise.

Final Word

A few years ago, when platforms were being acquired by enterprise software companies for multiples of 13x revenue or higher, no one really looked at scale during the valuation process, they just trusted the process. But scale is important and becoming more important every day.

And now, with some of those high fliers, who sold for upwards of $170 million just a few short years ago beginning the end-of-life process, new solutions offering scalability will be the norm. Congrats to Eric, Aaron and the technocrats at ClearBlade for shooting for a million – and getting it.
