Seamless, Sentient, Human Interactions Enabled by LiFi as We Race Towards Web3

By

The world is moving towards a more connected future with an increasing number of smart and IoT devices being developed and utilized. This has resulted in the need for hyper-converged wireless solutions that enable seamless communication between these devices, people, and places. A hyper-converged wireless solution integrates computing, storage, and networking functions in a single system, which reduces latency, improves performance, and simplifies management.

The number of IoT devices worldwide is forecast to almost triple from 9.7 billion in 2020 to more than 29 billion in 2030, according to Statista.

We require a new paradigm of wireless solutions to enable seamless communication between devices, as traditional Wi-Fi infrastructure is no longer sufficient to support the massive scale of IoT devices. Li-Fi is such a solution, using light waves to transmit data faster and more securely than Wi-Fi. Li-Fi is a hyper-converged wireless solution that integrates lighting, communication, and sensor functions into a single system, providing high-speed data transmission, low latency, and high bandwidth, making it an ideal solution for IoT devices.

Hyper-converged wireless solutions of the future are essential to the IoT ecosystem, enabling seamless communication between devices, people, and places. Li-Fi, quantum photonics, next-generation edge computing, manufacturing capabilities, and visual interface products are all technologies that can be used to enhance the performance. Web3 capabilities can also be enabled using these technologies, creating a decentralized, transparent, and user-centric Internet of Things.

Ostendo Technologies, a California-based company that develops, manufactures, and deploys breakthrough quantum technologies for the photonic era, alongside Veea,an edge platform provider headquartered in New York City, has newly announced that they will combine their quantum technologies and smart edge connectivity businesses to create a standalone company. This collaboration is expected to offer breakthrough solutions currently lacking due to integration, networking, latency, maintenance challenges, costs, and other factors. The move will create a new paradigm for hyper-converged wireless solutions and a revolutionary solution for enabling Web3 capabilities for ambient interaction between people, places, and things.

The newly combined company will unite complementary and diverse pioneering technologies – Ostendo's advanced split manufacturing capabilities and visual interface products with Veea's next-generation edge computing and connectivity. This combination will deliver new ways of interacting with visual data to consumers and enterprises, enriching user experiences.

The company will offer a highly differentiated unified solution that integrates Veea's edge computing platform, both cloud- and locally managed, together with a wireless and wearable visual interface initially in the form of Augmented Reality (AR) glasses. These AR glasses resemble reading or sunglasses without any sensory discomfort for daily use. This solution will significantly benefit the fast-growing edge and spatial computing businesses.

The new company will have highly experienced leadership and engineering teams and will own one of the world's deepest spatial and edge computing patent portfolios. The combined company has nearly 500 worldwide patent applications filed and over 100 trade secrets.

The companies plan to commercialize Ostendo's best-in-class wearable display products powered by its proprietary Quantum Photonic Imager (QPI) microprocessor of light. The Veea Edge Platform will address the challenges posed by cloud computing at the edge by extending the cloud to the edge through an all-in-one smart computing hub. This hub offers a hyper-converged network solution with the full range of wired and wireless connectivity, including fixed line and/or 4G/5G broadband access, cloud-native computing, and distributed network storage with a highly optimized networking and application mesh, enterprise-grade security, and a developer portal with advanced tools and APIs to continue bringing a wide range of apps, including machine learning and AI apps, and managed services to the market.

Dr. Hussein S. El-Ghoroury and Allen Salmasi, the leaders of Ostendo and Veea, respectively, expressed their excitement about this collaboration, believing that this merger will create opportunities for their worldwide customers, partners, and employees. They are confident they will change how and what we see in our daily interactions with information, the real world, and the people around us.

"Veea's edge platform and its underlying ability to deliver scalable edge computing, comprehensive environment sensing, and AI-driven multimedia content delivery over wired and wireless networks, together with Ostendo's breakthrough AR glasses, will significantly augment and enhance Human Machine Interface with a contextual digital overlay of the world, that can be comfortably and fashionably worn throughout the day." Says Allen Salmasi, Chairman and CEO of Veea. "Eventually, by enabling Web3 protocols and decentralized applications, Veea Edge Platform's distributed computing paradigm will enable the users of Ostendo's AR glasses to readily access highly unique Web3 applications such as DTube, Storj, Livepeer, Sola, DiFi, GameFi, most conveniently and securely make payments and conduct banking services, and much more."

"During my many conversations with Allen about the next great technology revolution, we always come back to the same conclusion: these technology franchises are stronger and more valuable together. We are excited about the opportunities this merger will create for our worldwide customers, our partners, and our employees. Together we will solve the problem of the last 50 meters and the last three centimeters—changing how and what we see in our daily interactions with information, the real world, and the people around us." Says Dr. Hussein S. El-Ghoroury, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Ostendo Technologies, Inc.

The collaboration between Ostendo and Veea is a significant step toward the future of IoT. This partnership brings together cutting-edge technologies that will offer revolutionary solutions in hyper-converged wireless solutions and AR glasses, making human-machine interactions more seamless and natural. As these technologies continue to evolve and converge, we can expect to see new IoT solutions that will change how we interact with the world around us.
