Pulse Energy, a premier provider of energy management solutions, has teamed up with Sierra Wireless to deliver cutting edge cellular deployments that enable customers to more efficiently monitor and manage energy usage.
A broad portfolio of high performance mobile computing and M2M products, including mobile broadband modems, embedded wireless modules, and intelligent gateways and routers, is provided by Sierra Wireless.
The portfolio of Pulse Energy consists of hardware and software, that when combined create an end-to-end energy management deployment.
For benchmarking and analysis, the combined solution consists of an AirLink intelligent gateway connected to the Pulse Connector, which transmits metering data over a cellular carrier network to Pulse Energy. An environment where customers can deploy a sophisticated energy management solution without having to run new data cabling or install additional IT infrastructure, has been created by Pulse Energy, by integrating the Sierra Wireless AirLink intelligent gateways, powered by ALEOSintelligence, with the Pulse Connector.
After the deployment of the solution, data is analyzed and archived, helping the end customers to monitor energy usage and efficiency in real-time with the Pulse Web Application, a Software as a Service tool.
The customers and Pulse Energy, in addition to the ability to manage their energy remotely from anywhere in the world with the Pulse Web Application, can configure and manage the Sierra Wireless AirLink devices with a comprehensive suite of AirLink device management tools, which minimizes field visits and enhances overall solution availability.
At several customer sites, including Waterfront Properties, owned by Cadillac Fairview, one of North America's largest investors, owners and managers of commercial real estate, the 3G solution has already been deployed. The combined solution greatly reduced installation times and the total cost of ownership of the energy management solution. "We are very pleased with how we have been able to track our energy usage in real-time and were pleasantly surprised at how quickly the solution was deployed, thanks to eliminating the need for wired data lines," Alison Kirk-Owen, Energy Specialist at Cadillac Fairview, remarked.
"Working with Pulse Energy allows Sierra Wireless to promote an end-to-end energy management solution to our customers and partners," Justin Schmid, vice president of Marketing and Business Development, AirLink for Sierra Wireless, said. "This enables our customers to deploy the solution more easily, reducing implementation time and cost."
According to Graham Cunliffe, a systems engineer at Pulse Energy, "We had tried other wireless solutions in the past, but were met with nothing but connectivity issues. We required a minimal amount of time to integrate the AirLink intelligent gateways from Sierra Wireless with our system, allowing our engineering team to focus on the energy solution as opposed to dealing with connectivity issues. We look forward to many more deployments of the combined Pulse Energy/Sierra Wireless solution."
In related news, the Funkwerk bintec RS120wu router has selected Sierra Wireless’ AirPrime MC8790 HSPA Embedded Module to achieve mobile broadband connectivity speeds of up to 7.2 megabits per second, or “Mbps,” on the downlink and up to 5.76 Mbps on the uplink.
