Viewbiquity CEO Tom Shafron to Discuss Technology Trends at ITEXPO West 2012

No matter what industry, the concept of machines communicating with other machines has been adopted rapidly over the years with the addition of innovative technology to support it. Machine-to-machine (M2M) technologies allow networked machines to exchange information and perform actions without any manual assistance.

These days, M2M applications are deployed by companies who want to offer a new product or service or by companies looking to reduce costs. No matter what M2M solutions are tracking, the objectives of M2M are the same: utilize intelligent endpoints to capture data, then analyze and act upon that data.

Viewbiquity, a provider of open source cloud-based Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platforms, has unveiled that Tom Shafron, the company’s managing partner and CEO, will speak at four technology conferences co-located with ITEXPO West 2012 from October 2-5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX.

“Practically an ITEXPO regular, Tom provides tremendous value to the sessions and panels he speaks on year after year at our events. Given his extensive knowledge in the M2M, open source and cloud-based technologies markets, Tom continues to be an asset to our conference programs and we are looking forward to seeing what he has in store for our attendees in Austin this year,” said Stefanie Mosca, managing editor at TMC.

In a session titled “HTML5 and the Internet of Things” on Wednesday, October 3rd at 2:30 p.m., Shafron will discuss best practices from the creation of the Viewbiquity Cloud Interface (VCI) Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platform. He will also share insight into developing solutions to manage and analyze ‘Big Data’ that is usually generated in monitoring and surveillance deployments.

At the Machine to Machine (M2M) Evolution Conference, Shafron and a panel of experts will discuss cloud-based deployment scenarios for addressing the M2M market in the session titled, “To The Clouds: How The Cloud Plays A Role In M2M,” on Thursday, October 4 at 2:30 p.m. In this discussion, he will illustrate using the Viewbiquity Cloud Interface, a development and deployment platform used by enterprises and service providers across the U.S.

“I am constantly amazed at the speed with which Web, mobile, telecommunications, and M2M technologies continue to intertwine,” said Shafron. “The combination of HTML5 and powerful development platforms is creating a whole new ecosystem that fosters innovation and faster time-to-market for niche and mainstream solution providers.”

At the Cloud Communications Expo, Shafron along with Mosca and Compass Intelligence Senior Strategist Dilip Sarangan will discuss the convergence of video surveillance with cloud-based services in a session entitled “What’s Cloud Have to Do with Video Surveillance?” on Thursday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. From low bitrate video to high-definition video, the bandwidth to push video upstream has been an issue for providers in the past but now with the national build-out of broadband, the cloud plays an important role in the delivery of new surveillance, monitoring and control services.

Concluding his participation at the Video World Conference and Expo on Friday, October 5, at 9:00 am, Shafron will address the smart home and smart business marketplace in the session “Video Surveillance and Automation Services – The Home Front and Well Beyond.” Shafron will use examples from deployments of the Viewbiquity Cloud Application Suite, a service delivery platform that enables providers to deliver smart services including energy management, surveillance, remote monitoring, and access control.
