Telit, Multi-Tech Systems Team to Develop End-Devices Featuring Telit Modules

By Anshu Shrivastava October 08, 2012

Telit Wireless Solutions has announced an alliance with Multi-Tech Systems, a provider of M2M communications solutions, to develop end-devices such as cellular routers and modems that feature Telit modules.

“Aligning ourselves with Telit and using their high-quality cellular modules, we are able to ensure that our customers’ M2M deployments benefit from a long life in the field and superior connectivity options, contributing to the overall success and ROI of their solutions,” said Mike Gustafson, vice president of marketing at Multi-Tech Systems.

Leveraging Telit’s HE910-D penta-band HSPA+ modules and the DE910-DUAL EV-DO CDMA modules, Multi-Tech’s M2M solutions are expected to offer faster communication speeds with the newest network technologies, as well as longer product lifecycles with backwards compatibility to legacy 2G networks.

Mike Ueland, senior vice president and general manager of North America at Telit Wireless Solutions, noted that when equipping devices with M2M communications capabilities, embedding modules into an existing design is often not an option, and an external solution is required.

“With these products from Multi-Tech Systems, organizations can quickly leverage cellular connectivity with Telit's modules with a decreased development cost for lower-volume applications,” Ueland said.

Multi-Tech’s intelligent wireless routers are expected to feature Telit modules. Company officials said that each product will offer HSPA+ (penta-band frequency) and EV-DO options for streamlined global deployments.

Part of the xE910 family with all regional and network variants, featuring the same form factor, Telit's HE910 module allows integrators to deploy M2M applications on a global scale and employ a range of network technologies.

In 3G mode, the HE910 supports all five existing frequency bands – 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz. In addition, it offers ubiquitous 2G coverage with quad band GPRS and EDGE class 33 to facilitate worldwide application deployments.

In addition to built-in gpsOne assisted GPS and autonomous GNSS with simultaneous GPS and GLONASS support, Telit’s DE910-DUAL features an ultra-compact Land Grid Array (LGA) package.

Recently, Telit Wireless Solutions announced that its full family of HE910 3G and 4G modules received AT&T certification for use on the carrier's HSPA and HSPA+ wireless network.
