Wireless Power Platform Electrifies CES

By Ken Briodagh January 06, 2016

Wireless power is so important to the future of the IoT. If data is to live in the cloud and so is the computing, then the energy also has to come over the air, or we will be forever tied to base units and imperfect batteries. Well, at CES this year, there is some good news on that front.

Tech company Ossia is demonstrating the capabilities of its Cota platform and solutions at CES in Las Vegas this week and attendees will get a chance to see the Cota consumer-ready wireless power solution working at real-world applications.

If you want to get a look, watch the video here:

The demo is showing off the Cota tabletop charger, mobile phone and IoT receivers. Also, the company is revealing its so-called wireless self-charging battery, which it says will never run down.  Ossia also says it has web and mobile applications for operating and managing the system locally and remotely, and there are a number of real-world applications that show the products working.

“We are very excited to show CES 2016 attendees and the rest of the world how Cota can free us from power cables in the same way that Wi-Fi freed us from data cables,” said Hatem Zeine, founder and CEO, Ossia and creator of the Cota technology. “There have been many claims about wireless power but at CES 2016 Ossia is setting the new standard by demonstrating real wireless power, real applications and a real partner ecosystem.”

Let the wireless revolution truly begin, so we can usher in the real mobility of the IoT promised in science fiction. See you in the future.
