Gooee Partners with PointGrab to Enhance Smart Lighting Platform

By Ken Briodagh October 18, 2016

According to a recent release, a new smart sensor platform has been integrated into Gooee’s IoT ecosystem in order to deliver better energy savings by providing real-time data for building intelligence.

Gooee is an IoT operating platform that connects lighting manufacturers to the Internet of Things and it has reportedly partnered with PointGrab, an intelligent edge-analytics sensing solution developer to connect CogniPoint, PointGrab’s deep-learning based sensor, to Gooee’s lighting ecosystem and stream the data collected through the cloud.

CogniPoint provides data on the presence, number and position of occupants in an area by using deep learning neural network technology for a building’s operations, space management, energy savings and business intelligence. This approach to building automation is designed to provide real-time intelligence and control, creating smart buildings that are efficient and improve the occupants’ experiences.

“Alongside our IoT sensor, the PointGrab sensing platform will generate a rich dataset that we expect will lead to several energy saving opportunities and the optimization of smart buildings,” said Simon Coombes, CTO and co-founder, Gooee.

For Gooee, this is the first integration of third party technology into its ecosystem, but Coombes said more is to come. “We have begun other integrations that will enhance both user experience and yield a rich presentation of data that can offer insights and suggestions on energy savings,” he added.

Itamar Roth, Chief Business Officer of PointGrab, said, “Due to the increased demand for more intelligent and more efficient buildings following the rapid adoption of IoT, smart sensors are essential to today’s building automation capabilities. Integrating our technology into Gooee’s ecosystem expands our market reach and enables customers to access the complete joint solution.”
