Power-One Receives UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 Certification for its TRIO, ULTRA Products

Power-One (News - Alert), a provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, has received UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 certification for its products. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of photovoltaic inverters.

The products include the company’s new ULTRA 780kW, 1.17MW and 1.56MW central inverters and TRIO 20.0kW and 27.6kW commercial string inverters. The certifications make these products suitable for use in U.S. markets.

According to officials, the ULTRA and TRIO products are shipping commercially in Europe and will start shipping in the first quarter in the U.S.

Alex Levran, president, Renewable Energy Solutions Group, Power-One said, “We are pleased that our liquid-cooled ULTRA series of central inverters and the new TRIO string inverters designed for the U.S. commercial market have received certification to UL 1741, as this validates their safe operation for commercial and utility scale PV installations.”

“The ULTRA, with its game changing technology designed to drive down the levelized cost of energy, began shipping in the fourth quarter of 2012 and has commissioned sites in Italy, Germany, Greece and the U.K.,” Levran added.

Power-One strives to increase energy harvesting capabilities and decrease total plant investment and maintenance costs to benefit PV commercial and utility plant owners. The input voltage range of the ULTRA and TRIO ensures maximum energy harvesting over a wide module temperature range and insulation levels. The inverters also have NEMA 4x environmental ratings.

The company’s renewable energy products help in yielding maximum power from solar arrays that can be used in utilities, commercial enterprises and homes. The company serves the needs of renewable energy, data storage and networking, industrial and network power systems industries.

Recently, Power-One unveiled its next-generation LPM616 family of products. The series includes modular 1600 Watt AC-DC power supplies delivering a power density of 18 Watts per cubic inch, with an extra low 1U profile. The new products are most suitable for industrial, test equipment, Datacom and COTS military applications. They satisfy the need for rapid prototyping and where specific voltage and current specifications are given.
