Ken Wood Joins as Business Executive of EDSA's Paladin SmartGrid Operations

By Rajani Baburajan February 25, 2010
EDSA, a developer of power analytics solutions for the design, testing and management of complex electrical power systems, has announced that Ken Wood has been appointed as the business executive to oversee its Paladin SmartGrid operations.

Wood has more than 15 years of global business development, strategic marketing and sales management expertise in electronic energy and power management solutions for industrial and commercial applications, according to official sources.

As the business unit executive, Wood reports directly to EDSA's chairman and CEO, Mark A. Ascolese.

With more than 20 years in the mainstream power systems software industry, EDSA has enjoyed remarkable success in the smart grid arena.

The Paladin SmartGrid software platform is called a “master controller” because it enables the use of on-premise and distributed energy sources such as solar, wind, or local co-generation without jeopardizing the reliability of the legacy utility grid.

Paladin also serves as a master controller for intelligent microgrid designs, monitoring and electricity trading.

Earlier this year, IoTevolutionworld had reported the launch of Paladin platform.

The project is now nearing final testing and is scheduled to be commercially released by the second quarter of 2010, according to company officials.

Wood has held a wide range of management, operations, and field responsibilities working for and with industry leaders such as Eaton, IBM, Intersil, and others.

“Ken joins EDSA with an exceptional track record for bringing elegant new technologies and practical customer solutions together,” Ascolese said in a release. “He will play a vital role in leading EDSA's power analytics solutions and driving new technologies as the smart grid industry evolves from the R&D phase to the commercial phase.”

EDSA also earned industry recognition recently when Kevin Meagher, chief technology officer, was named to GreenTech Media's List of “100 People You Must Know in Smart Grid,” the company said.
