Discera Opens High-Tech China Applications Center in Shenzhen

By Carolyn J Dawson July 21, 2010

Discera, Inc. is a provider of CMOS semiconductor-based oscillator technology. The company recently declared that it has officially opened its China Applications Center in the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce Tower on Fuhua 3rd Road, Futian District. The company’s new office is having various facilities including engineers, equipment, and researchers. With these features, the company is planning to offer support for highly advanced chip and module integration, high definition and 3D video technology, and radio frequency and smart grid design.

By opening this new office, the company has centralized various locations into a single facility. New office is less that 1.5 km from the Jiuce Science & Technology Park and 0.5 km from the Shenzhen Golf Club. The opening ceremony of the Discera, Inc. China Applications Center is hosted by Chief Technology Officer Dr. Wan-Thai Hsu and Vice President of Worldwide Sales Dr. Kent Chon.

In a release Dr. Hsu said that “By sharing our expertise in semiconductor timing, power reduction, and MEMS technology and sponsoring local research and development, Discera is helping Chinese businesses compete and win in the global marketplace.”

Discera is the creator of micro-electrical mechanical systems (MEMS). MEMS make use of standard silicon processes to offer the heartbeat that are essential for almost all electronics devices. The users can exploit company’s technology to avail a smaller, but more dependable and low power substitute to customary quartz technology.

In a release Dr. Chon said that “Discera leads with service and wins with reliability. Our newest facility will dramatically reduce both development and production lead times for customers accustomed to older technologies.”

Various Chinese companies operate with these technologies under the Discera name and also under license to some of the largest component manufacturers and ODM’s across the globe. They are offering the technology as separate components, incorporated chipsets, and specialty modules. The new China Applications Center offers its services to Direct, Distribution, ODM, and OEM customers. Apart from that, it serves local universities, joint ventures, and other business partners. Discera holds Global ISO 9001 and Green Partner certification. In the field of MEMS core and implementation technologies, the company holds 28 patents. Also, it is the winner of prestigious Wall Street Journal Innovation Award.
