Monnit Enters Enterprise IoT With New ALTA Platform

By Ken Briodagh March 28, 2017

According to a recent announcement, Monnit Corporation, a global IoT developer in the design and manufacture of low-cost turnkey monitoring solutions for commercial, industrial and consumer markets, has just released a new enterprise-grade wireless products brand, ALTA. This new Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)-focused remote monitoring solution was designed to meet higher-demanding enterprise requirements, the company said.

ALTA wireless sensors are able to communicate readings over eight times the distance of standard sensor platforms. They also offer long battery life and will now introduce Monnit’s new Encrypt-RF bank level security, making them suitable for an infinitely wide range of sensing and control applications.

“IoT is not just refashioned IT,” said Brad Walters, Monnit, CEO. “It’s beyond the ‘edge’ into actual things like commercial appliances, HVAC and manufacturing equipment. Whether your space is industrial, agricultural, office, or retail, businesses need a way to leverage operational data to improve outcomes, protect assets and save resources. With ALTA, companies get the most reliable and cost-effective solution, offering secure, real-time information on how assets, buildings, and processes are managed and maintained.”

Created with the requirements of Monnit’s most demanding enterprise partners in mind, ALTA sensors are designed to be able to monitor conditions and wirelessly transmit data, from non-line of site (through walls) distances over 1,000 feet, the company asserted. In addition, ALTA solutions employ industry leading security algorithms, including a 256-bit exchange to establish a global unique key, and an AES-128 CTR for all data messages.
