The global blood supply is one of the most closely monitored and controlled supply chains in the world, and for good reason. Now, the IoT is making that process even more precise, thanks to a new product from Haemonetics.
Haemonetics recently announced HaemoCloud, an IoT software platform designed to connect all of the company’s devices and software, leading to a total management of the human blood supply chain. The product enables blood management devices to communicate with hospital information systems and provide real-time device operational data for service and support.

HaemoCommunicator works within an institution to format and transfer data from diagnostic thromboelastography and cell salvage devices, then on a nightly basis, compiles device performance data and transfers it to HaemoCloud allowing customers and support organizations to monitor the use and performance of each device to create a seamless data experience for customers. Over time, data collected in HaemoCloud will allow Haemonetics to build preventative maintenance algorithms and offer industry-leading device performance for our customers. This interoperability resulted in the product being named IoT Evolution Product of the Year for 2015.
