Industrial IoT Has New PaaS Provider

By Ken Briodagh September 29, 2015

Providing various services-as-a-service has become de rigueur for the IoT industry, and now it’s spread into the IIoT with the announcement of new developer Information Exchange (IX).

The company, launched on September 29, has developed a secure, lightweight IoT platform for the commercial and industrial market, according to the launch announcement. The IIoT is a huge focus for growth in the IoT, since connected technology can give immediate and powerful ROI to almost any industrial process it’s applied to.

“We believe that connecting legacy equipment into the IoT world will create the disruption in the commercial and industrial IoT market,” said Michael Hathaway, CEO and Founder, IX. “Our platform enables legacy equipment to connect and interact with IoT devices and services while enforcing security policies at all layers. In effect, we bring legacy equipment, software applications and services into the IoT world.”

IX’s senior executives have more than 25 years in industry experience and held senior roles with Accenture, Honeywell, Lucent Technologies, IBM, Gemalto, Motorola (News - Alert), Dell, and HP. They have experience in a wide range of markets, including Energy, Building Automation, Semiconductor, Consumer Electronics and Supply Chain Logistics.

“Based on our global survey, our research indicates that one of the leading barriers to IoT adoption for enterprises is security,” said Vernon Turner, SVP and Research Fellow, IDC (News - Alert). “The ability to provide industrial grade security between the IoT gateway and end points will lead to innovation and disruption in the market.”
