Podsystem Corporation Leads the Way Through Connectivty, M2M

By Michelle Amodio December 17, 2015

Machine-to-machine (M2M) is a term normally heard within IT departments. Typically, the practice is found within large organizations that can afford and want to maintain their own data networks. The technology is used in industries such as fleet management, vehicle telematics, smart grid and asset monitoring.

Right now, M2M is next in line for its time in the technology spotlight, and we have the wireless industry to thank for it. The expansion of wireless networks around the world has made it far easier for M2M communication to flourish and has reduced the amount of power and time necessary for information to be communicated.

Companies like Podsystem are harnessing the power of mobile and M2M, and delivering solutions that break free from local and global connectivity limitations. Major corporations in various industries are using M2M applications for a variety of tasks, including inventory management, shipping and delivery, tracking parts, work in progress and employee data.

Podsystem’s M2M solution gives businesses the ability to expand M2M in several markets; its flat data rates on one APN across the U.S. and European Union allow for multi-network coverage in both markets, including both AT&T and T-Mobile (News - Alert) in the USA.

Being a Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) gives Podsystem the ability to negotiate best coverage and pricing with mobile network operators (MNOs).

MVNOs offer cheaper rates to consumers by renting spectrum from one of the four major carriers. They function as wholesalers, who purchase bandwidth in chunks from the big carrier networks, and sell at a discount to consumers. MVNOs operate on whichever large network leases them spectrum. These cost savings are then passed onto the consumer.

Podsystem’s solutions have helped organizations like Young Scot, a youth information and citizenship charity for Scotland provide rewards programs via mobile card readers to track rewards and points without the hassle of a paper system. Its solution has also given a boost to gaming systems, wearable tech companies, and more.
