The IoT Evolution Expo is rolling along in Fort Lauderdale this week, and one of the highlights of day 1 was the much-anticipated Battle of the Platforms. The Battle is a great place for companies to find best-in-class providers of IoT platform solutions and for anyone n the ecosystem of the IoT to learn how the underbelly of interconnectivity works in the real world.
Network platforms offer quicker development and deployment times, scalability and, oftentimes, lowered risk in the development process. It is a crowded space, however and it can be difficult to evaluate all that the market has to offer. This is the mission of the Battle. To help companies understand who the market leaders are and how they differentiate themselves from each other, while discovering what platform solutions the competitors are evaluating and implementing.
Monday’s event was the eighth Battle and built off of the Las Vegas event, bringing the most cutting edge platform solutions from leading companies to go head-to-head against one another to impress the panel of industry-leader judges. The judges were: James Brehm of James Brehm & Associates; William Brown of Stanley Black and Decker; Isabel Chapman of Machina Research; Godfrey Chua of Machina Research; John Feland of Argus Insights; Jeff Fox of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide; Ryan Martin of ABI Research; Rich Nass of Open Systems Media; Scott Scheuber of US Cellular; Dima Tokar of MachNation; and Doug Wilson of Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless.
The contestants were Accelerated, Kore, mydevices, Numerex, Scriptr, Systech, teezle, Telit, and Thingworx.
Each participant company had 10minutes to present the short, short version of how its platform performs in the real world in front of the crowd of hundreds, and in the end, there were several winners across five categories.

Best IoT Connectivity Solution: Kore
Best IoT Industrial Solution: Telit
Best Overall IoT Winner: Systech (News - Alert)
Systech snagged the top prize for the second time in a row, partially because of the platform’s clear real-world use cases, and concise presentation that really showed how it can make the IoT more accessible to customers.
