IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Absolutdata, SAP, Vodafone

By Ken Briodagh March 28, 2016

Hey folks, hope you’re enjoying your Easter, Purim, Ostara or other celebration. This is the IoT Evolution World Week in Review. We’ll get to the news in just a bit, but first a quick reminder about the IoT Evolution Expo in Las Vegas, July 11 to 14. If you want to get in on it as a sponsor or exhibitor, now’s the time, so hook up with Matt Gleeson, our Biz Dev maestro.

And now, the news:

SAP and Vodafone have signed an agreement to collaborate on customer projects in all markets that they jointly serve. This collaboration is a sign of the continuing movement in the industry toward cooperation and partnerships that will encourage the growth of IoT systems in the best ways for the industry.

When discussing IoT, it is often said that every deployment starts with a smart, connected device.  And, although it has become easier and less expensive to retrofit existing equipment, it is not always a trivial task. This is an area where the use of optical sensors and image recognition can fill the gap.

Did you ever think that you’d be living in an age where technology would become a vital part of your daily life? From cell phones to laptops, tablets and wearables, technology has revolutionized our everyday life. Now Nuance (News - Alert) (News  - Alert), a developer of voice and language products, is applying Neural Nets to advance voice and language technologies that will make it possible for machines to learn and ultimately understand the human language.

What is the secret to strategic IoT success? Amidst the complexity and ambiguity of an IoT initiative, it can be easy to lose sight of the ultimate business requirements of any project: the need to generate a return on that effort.

This week on the IoT Time Podcast, I spoke with Anil Kaul, CEO and Co-Founder of Absolutdata, to talk about data, Big and otherwise, and why it will be the essence of the future IoT.

There’s plenty more to readlisten to and watch, so visit us on IoT Evolution World for all the IoT news, my friends. Keep the IoT Evolution Expo in Fort Lauderdale in your calendar.
