IoT Evolution World Week in Review: KORE, FogHorn, OSIsoft

By Ken Briodagh July 30, 2016

Hello, friends. This is the IoT Evolution World Week in Review, and although it’s finally raining here, the IoT news is coming in a deluge lately, with new partnerships, new tech announcements and new expansions happening all over the world. Let’s dig in.

In our lead story this week, KORE Telematics announced that it will partner with Apple (News - Alert) to make iOS-friendly IoT solutions for iPad. In my interview with Kore’s Tom Rose, I asked him WHY?

In a great guest post from our friends at Libelium, Alicia Asin wrote about the educational gap between the skills needed by IoT companies and the practical knowledge of students coming into the workforce and how it could endanger the expected growth of the IoT market.

And now, the news:

Semtech Corporation has completed a successful trial of its LoRa Wireless RF technology, allowing TalkPool (News - Alert) and Wuerth ITensis to deploy it in a ski tracker solution that will monitor students on the slopes of the Swiss Alps in the upcoming ski season.

The money keeps rolling into the IoT from every side, and the newest recipients are the edge computing specialists at FogHorn Systems, based in Mountain View, CA (News - Alert), having raised $12 million in its recently closed Series A.

myDevices and Senet have announced a new IoT technology partnership designed to integrate Senet’s open, standards-based network with myDevices’ (News - Alert) connected device solution with the goal of encouraging easier adoption and execution of IoT projects using the LoRa ecosystem.

This week on the IoT Time Podcast, I sat down with Enrique Herrera, market principal at OSIsoft, to talk about the Industrial Internet of Things and how companies can get value from data and connected equipment. The special video episodes from the IoT Evolution Expo are coming soon, so keep an eye (and an ear) out!

There’s plenty more to read, listen to and watch, so visit us on IoT Evolution World for all the IoT news, my friends. Now’s the time to put the next IoT Evolution Expo, to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, into your calendar. Also, please get in touch with us when you have stories. As always, if you have questions, comments, input or abuse, please send it to editorial director Ken Briodagh at kbriodagh@tmcnet.com or on Twitter (News - Alert) @KenBriodagh.
