New Disaster Recovery Solution to Leverage Microsoft Azure

In a new announcement, ICONZ-Webvisions, a Cloud and Managed Services provider, has said that Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure is now available as a disaster recovery platform for its customers.

The solution is powered by Zerto, a developer of IT resilience products that provide availability and disaster recovery software solutions. This new Azure tie-in is designed to enable enterprise-sized disaster recovery solutions to use the cloud’s advantages in cost, economies of scale, and lowered overhead.

“The support for Amazon Web Services (News - Alert), and now Microsoft Azure, in our offering builds on the continuing trend of businesses looking to utilize the cloud as a disaster recovery site,” said Albert Wong, Group CEO, ICONZ-Webvisions. “Our customers will be able to replicate and recover files and virtual machines simultaneously from both cloud services, with Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) in seconds and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) in minutes.”

In Singapore, concerns are growing over cyber security as more enterprises deploy sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and mobility solutions. In the event of a cyber incident, or flood or fire disaster, organizations should be able to restore business operations as quickly as possible. However, many are still struggling with coming up with a disaster plan. This service takes enterprises through an Assessment and Planning process to find out current readiness and then makes recommendations tailored to business requirements.

Singapore legal services firm RHTLaw Taylor Wessing, which runs most of its IT operations in-house, has contracted the service to restore its business applications and data in case of disaster.

“We have to look at the entire picture -- the pervasiveness of our IT infrastructure and how we handle our work every day,” said Azman Jaafar, Deputy Managing Partner, RHTLaw Taylor Wessing. “If the system is down for three days, and if within these three days you have a closing and you cannot close because all your documents are locked up, what are you going to say? It is unimaginable. There is a certain amount of pain that we are trying to avoid.”
