Barcoding Inc. and Urban Hanger Blaze the Way with Scanning and Tracking

Urban Hanger, which was founded in 2009, provides a valet dry cleaning and laundry service to more than 30 commercial buildings and residences. This includes business offices, apartment buildings and condominiums, in the Baltimore metropolitan area. The company has teamed up with Barcoding Inc. to offer a valet dry cleaning and laundry service that would automatically alert customers when their orders were picked up and delivered.

“I needed a solution that would provide me with the capabilities to start and be successful with my business,” said Brandon Rosenblatt, owner, president and founder, Urban Hanger. “Barcoding is a well-established company with reliable solutions so I knew they could customize the cutting-edge solution I needed.”

Based on Urban Hanger’s vision, Barcoding Inc. customized and deployed its new CaptureSoft eXpress solution for Android (News - Alert) software. The tested platform and revolutionary solution was modified and customized to track, manage and report on when bags of laundry were picked up as well as dropped off. As a part of the integrated solution, Barcoding set up multiple TC75 enterprise-class smartphone scanners provided by Zebra Technologies.

The CaptureSoft eXpress solution also provides Urban Hanger with 100 percent traceability as well as the accountability to correct any errors if they arise. Urban Hanger receives a series of reports that have been generated that show the activity log for each day. This empowers Urban Hanger to improve operations and continue to be efficient.

“The end customers benefit tremendously from the technology aspect that Urban Hanger provides. Many dry cleaners do not incorporate much, if any, technology into their operations. When customers are evaluating using our service versus another provider, we believe that the convenience provided by our technology platform offers a valuable differentiator,” said Rosenblatt.

How does the online platform work? Within the online platform, Urban Hanger customers can customize and set up how many notifications they would like to receive as well as how they receive it – via email or text. They also have the ability to request service from their mobile devices and see when the driver arrives at their location once he “checks-in” using a unique barcode assigned to that location as well as when their order will be ready.  

What are the results of this new technology? High-end luxury apartment complexes and commercial office management companies receive peace of mind knowing that they are increasing their amenity offerings without creating additional burdens for management. By offering automated delivery notifications, Urban Hanger eliminates the need for management to alert residents that their cleaning has arrived, which otherwise can be a difficult task.

 “Without working with Barcoding to develop a unique solution, Urban Hanger would not exist and would not be as profitable as we are today,” said Rosenblatt.
