As the world’s largest, craziest and most creative consumer electronics show kicked off in Las Vegas today, Smartvue is revealing the latest version of its video services platform.
Video is a beast, and despite decades of technology improvement generally, real time visual communications still presents challenges beyond initial Proof of Concepts. It can be expensive, it can be hacked including cybercriminals penetrating enterprise networks through video ports and pivoting into systems and databases where information can be comprimised and networks can be disabled, and high costs given the requirements for bandwidth, transcoding, and compute power at edge.
Smartvue has been around awhile, and was a pioneer at CES (News - Alert), when, in 1999 they won the Best of Show award. According to the company’s announcement, they today upload more video than YouTube every 24 hours.’
