IoT Evolution Expo Kicks off with Certifications, Workshops and NIST

By
The IoT Evolution Expo is off to a huge start today, with a slate of workshops and certifications designed to bring attendees into 2018 with all the knowledge they will need to drive this industry into the next ten years of success. The four tracks are:
  • Fog Computing Workshop
  • IoT Blockchain Certification
  • IoT Security Certification
  • LPWAN Workshop
One key highlight of the day will be the Birds of a Feather discussion, which will be a NIST-led discussion on IoT Security and Privacy Risk Considerations.

The featured presenter will be Katerina Megas, who is the Commercial Adoption Lead for the Trusted Identities Group, and Program Manager for the Cybersecurity for Internet of Things (IoT) Program at NIST. She has more than 25 years of experience leading organizations development and execution of marketing strategies, and deployment of solutions in telecommunications, ERP and IAM (identity and access management) technologies.

Colin Soutar, Senior Manager Deloitte & Touche, will moderate the session. He has more than 20 years’ experience in identity, privacy and cybersecurity. Soutar completed a two-year post-doctoral stint at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, developing pattern recognition techniques for autonomous rendezvous and capture operations. He then applied similar pattern recognition and classification techniques to biometric systems as the Chief Technology Officer for over a decade with Bioscrypt.

NIST’s Cybersecurity for the Internet of Things (IoT) program supports the development and application of standards, guidelines, and related tools to improve the cybersecurity of connected devices and the environments in which they are deployed. By collaborating with stakeholders across government, industry, international bodies, and academia, the program aims to cultivate trust and promote U.S. leadership in IoT.
