Telefonica Teams with Mavenir, AWS to Reimagine IoT Connectivity Service Delivery

By

The IoT opportunity is more tangible than ever. For years, we read about billions of devices transforming the way we live and work, from smart refrigerators and self-driving cars to automated factories and drones driving farming results. This wholesale transformation is a daunting task, but a little help from the cloud, industry leading providers and growing enthusiasm makes it tangible.

In an effort to reimagine IoT connectivity service delivery, Telefonica announced a new cloud native service leveraging AWS cloud infrastructure and Mavenir’s packet core solution.

The Telefonica Kite platform manages services through a user-friendly interface, and is available via APIs or the web to empower a wide spectrum of connectivity in IoT environments – including manufacturing, automotive, industrial, the public sector and more. In leveraging cloud infrastructure, end users can take advantage of low latency, direct connectivity to cloud service as well as local data processing and storage. Telefonica’s Core Innovation team and Telefonica Tech’s IoT & Big Data Unit collaboration spearheaded the project rooted in delivering automated end-to end service.

"Telefonica is developing this disruptive innovation project, convinced that it will help us to maintain the IoT leadership reached with Kite Platform. Kite is much more than an IoT connectivity management platform and improves the whole IoT ecosystem dimensions, from the device to the cloud. Cloud-native point of presences will give a complete response to IoT customers with large bases of globally deployed devices,” explained Carlos Carazo, CTO IoT & Big Data at Telefónica Tech.

Mavenir web-scale technology, AWS global infrastructure, some hard work and welcome to IoT connectivity delivery reimagined.
