Vodafone Business, ranked a leader in managed IoT connectivity services by Gartner (News - Alert), supports more than 120 million connections across five continents, powering smart meters and energy grids, connected cars, smart agriculture, COVID-19 vaccine tracking, and more.

Addressing one of the greatest challenges associated with IoT and IIoT, Vodafone tapped Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (BRM), which both companies are demonstrating this week at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona.

Running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), the BRM solution supports monetization and charging capabilities enabling a wide range of IoT-driven services and business models.

“IoT is reimagining the way we work and live and providing companies the ability to quickly gather and act on data to offer valuable new services to customers,” said Mabel Pous-Fenollar, Head of IoT Connectivity Vodafone (News - Alert) Business. “We selected Oracle Billing and Revenue Management based on its ability to scale to support our rapid growth and numerous business models. With the solution running on Oracle (News - Alert) Cloud, Vodafone Business will be able to deliver the best digital experiences and outcomes for our customers, enabling them to effectively charge for services through an integrated app and infrastructure solution.”

According to Oracle, Vodafone Business can monetize a variety of IoT offerings for wholesalers, enterprises, and partners.

Oracle listed as examples sensors in connected vehicles that can enable services such as GPS map updates or infotainment as subscriptions charged on a consumption basis.

The solution is running on the OCI Container Engine for Kubernetes and is automated with OCI Resource Manager and Terraform across multiple Oracle Cloud Regions.
