Basis Technologies and Tech Mahindra Expand Smart Utilities

Smart utilities are leading the way into the future as energy crises continue across the globe. To help improve customers' experiences with these services while also reducing operational costs for providers, Basis Technologies has announced a new partnership with Tech Mahindra. The two companies will combine their offerings to help accelerate delivery of smart utility solutions in the U.S. and Europe.

Specifically, Basis Technologies’ platform-based solution for automation will be combined with Tech Mahindra’s managed process delivery offerings, so transactions processing and other functionality for utility businesses are improved. This includes streamlining meter-to-cash processes and saving anywhere from 30-50% in back-office efficiency.

The utility industry, like most others, is becoming increasingly digitized to meet the demand for anytime, anywhere services and experiences, built on a foundation of self-service and communications technologies.

“We believe that managing exceptions continues to remain critical in utility business process operation,” said Birendra Sen, Business Head, Business Process Services, Tech Mahindra. “Our partnership with Basis Technologies will empower the utility customers with a smart, intelligent, and platform-led back office solution that is essential for successful digital transformation and to gain market share.”

Basis Technologies is an SAP (News - Alert) change and test automation software provider. The company’s offerings make it possible for businesses to modernize, adapt and maintain mission-critical SAP systems. Using Basis’ BDEx platform on Utility SAP, Tech Mahindra benefits from intelligent billing and revenue management and other capabilities.

Tech Mahindra provides digital transformation, consulting and business re-engineering services and solutions. The company has a specific focus on digital growth and is using the NXT.NOW framework to use next-gen technologies for digital transformations that meet the needs of today’s customers.

For utility providers, the combination of their offerings will make it possible to instantaneously correlate work orders, unpaid bills and/or reported complaints associated with customers, so they can provide faster, better care. They’ll also have access to predictive analytics to process data in real-time to provide help and answers before they even come up.

“We are thrilled to announce this new partnership with Tech Mahindra and are looking forward to collaborating to bring value to utility companies using SAP,” commented David Lees, Chief Technology Officer, Basis Technologies. ”Together, we strive to provide true customer-centric services through timely, accurate, and cost-effective back-end processes.”
