T-Mobile Launches IoT Developer Kit

By Stefania Viscusi December 02, 2022

T-Mobile (News - Alert) released its first IoT Developer Kit. The kit now available through T-Mobile DevEdge, the company's developer platform. The idea is to help developers connect to and build IoT solutions for the T-Mobile network with a purpose-built toolkit to simplify and expedite the development and implementation process.

T-Mobile believes building for wireless should be easy, rather than making the process painful and with limited support available from unreachable so-called experts. With its new IoT Developer Kit, developers have the access they need to support their application and solution development needs as they reimagine what can be done with IoT.

“T-Mobile is opening doors for innovators of all kinds, making building for wireless simple and easy… the way it should be,” said Rob Roy, SVP of emerging products at T-Mobile. “We’re empowering developers, no matter their size or what stage of the development process they’re in, to create innovative connected solutions.”

The IoT Developer Kit promises to provide a fully functional out-of-the-box kit that connects seamlessly to T-Mobile’s network, making it easier for developers to realize their IoT vision and drive innovation. With no coding needed to connect to the T-Mobile network, developers have an easier time bringing their applications into a production environment to monetize their designs.

Other functionalities offered with the Developer kit include access to free APIs for SMS notifications, location and diagnostic tools as well as embedded sensors and radios, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The kit uses LTE (News - Alert) CAT-M, a LPWA network technology for IoT applications offering a connection speed of up to 375 kbps. Startups like Pano AI, InDro Robotics, and others are already leveraging T-Mobile’s network.
