IoT Partnership Between Pod Group, LHIND, and SODAQ Hails Launch of First Commercial Smart Label Device

CES (News - Alert) 2023, the annual Consumer Electronics Show, is kicking off this Thursday, January 5 and runs through Sunday, January 8. With this kick-off, we’re already witnessing a vast inflow of tech news from companies both physically and virtually attending this annual experience.

Case in point, companies Pod Group, Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND), and SODAQ have partnered to develop commercial Smart Label tracking devices.

The Smart Label is an ultra-slim device that enables the tracking of paper-thin parcels; even letters containing important and highly-sensitive documents. Prior to the Smart Label, this wasn’t possible due to the bulky nature of traditional tracking technologies.

Set to revolutionize the logistics industry, the Smart Label uses low-power cellular connectivity to send data pertaining to device location and device temperatures back to a centralized dashboard. This will allow logistics companies to dependably track the transit of valuables that can be as small and lightweight as envelopes, or larger goods like full-sized oil paintings. The Smart Label’s printed battery also keeps the label as light as possible while simultaneously using lower-power connectivity to optimize battery life (i.e. up to six months). This label can be reused (depending on transmission frequency) and rivals other batteries in terms of recyclable, environmentally friendly materials.

The Smart Label’s components, it seems, are a strong as the partnership of the three aforementioned companies. With Pod Group’s connectivity solutions, the dashboard capabilities from LHIND, and SODAQ’s innovative hardware, the trio are quoted as “incredibly proud” to present this cutting-edge tech together at CES.
