Fibocom Plans to Take IoT to the Next Level

Fibocom was founded in 1999 and has spent the last 24 years establishing technology service centers, launching IoT cellular and wireless modules, and much more.

And now, after exhibiting at this year’s MWC Las Vegas 2023, Fibocom has unveiled the path it’s traveling when it comes to cutting-edge 5G IoT solutions.

Here’s the long-story-short breakdown:

• After launching its RedCap module series earlier this year – compliant with the 3GPP R17 standard and 5G Standalone (SA) support, while delivering significant reductions in 5G terminal costs, power consumption, and other high-speed, low-power needs across IoT industries – Fibocom has now exhibited its new global version of edge-leading 5G Sub-6GHz and mmWave FM190 module. The FM190 series can reach, as Fibocom has described, “a maximum downlink speed of up to 10Gbps, bringing impressive cellular performance to mobile broadband, FWA, enterprise 5G, and IIoT.”
• Fibocom also covered the world’s current favorite buzzword: AI. Several AI smart modules provide on-site support and are designed for applications like robotics, industry PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants), PoC radio, smart home applications, and additional use cases that represent, per Fibocom, “catalyzing computing advancements for in-vehicle infotainment, smart retail, and smart handhelds.”
• Lastly, Fibocom showed how it’s empowering AIoT for retail, asset tracking, in-home and industrial connectivity, IIoT, etc. For example, Fibocom’s Smart POS (Point-of-Sale) machine is equipped with Fibocom’s LTE (News - Alert) Cat 1 module MC116, providing a low-cost, highly functional Android-based solution. AI enables a Fibocom tracker that can be used for heavy vehicle fleet management, as well.
