Strengthening the Cornerstones of IoT Security: TEAL and Kigen Partner to Scale and Reshape SIM Technologies

By Alex Passett January 03, 2024

Let’s talk TEAL, a renowned IoT connectivity provider.

TEAL’s mission is succinct: Connect IoT devices on more than 3,500 global cellular networks at just the click of a button. TEAL strives to give today’s businesses the freedom to choose the network they want within one eSIM platform they readily control. Trusted by the likes of AWS and Intel (News - Alert), TEAL future-proofs IoT deployments with reliable solutions and flexible pricing options.

Back in December, TEAL made headlines when it partnered with Stargent. (IoT Evolution World covered that news; read here.)

Now that 2024 is upon us, TEAL announced a new partnership with another provider of IoT connectivity options:

Kigen.

Kigen empowers problem-solving solutions that scale SIM, eSIM, iSIM and remote SIM provisioning technologies. This pairs well with how TEAL is notably the first U.S.-based eSIM platform to be certified by the GSMA (News - Alert). Together, the two are making a new version of the Kigen eSIM OS available, offered with SGP.32-ready features and also preloaded with TEAL’s in-house SGP.32 Cloud Platforms.

As the official partnership announcement made earlier today described, “This partnership is a game-changer that supports OEM and M2M customers that will soon transition to solutions that support new eSIM IoT specifications.”

The long-story-short of it? When combined with Kigen’s eSIM OS, TEAL’s SGP.32-cloud platform prioritizes key steps in assisting customers with major IoT eSIM transitions, particularly for energy-efficient devices that have already undergone rigorous testing for interoperability.

From TEAL CEO Robert Hamblet:

“We are thrilled to partner with Kigen to provide a comprehensive solution melding Kigen’s SGP.32 OS and TEAL’s advanced eSIM Platform technology. This partnership will enable us to provide our customers with the most forward-thinking eSIM technology available, ensuring the highest level of reliability and performance for any IoT deployment.”

And from Kigen CEO Vincent Korstanje:

“Kigen is driving the collaboration around the dramatic simplification of IoT expected in the upcoming GSMA SGP.32 standard, and customers at the forefront of innovation need to prepare for this transition. Our partnership with TEAL offers an outstanding combination of cloud and device level stack for eSIM technology at scale.”
