Let’s talk, as we have before, about both Mouser Electronics and Morse Micro.
Here on IoT Evolution (and over on Industrial IoT News), we covered Mouser Electronics a couple times earlier this year – once regarding its partnership with Panasonic Industrial Automation, as well as a partnership with Würth Elektronik Group. Mouser is an authorized distributor of semiconductors and additional electronic components, serving electronic design engineers with more than 27 support locations around the globe. The company also specializes in what it describes as “the rapid introduction of the newest products and technologies targeting design engineer and buyer communities.” Mouser conducts its business with additional support in 23 different languages and 34 separate forms of currency.
Then we have Morse Micro, a renowned IoT connectivity and interoperability solutions provider. After establishing its partnership with Synergy Associates and with Silex Technology (plus last year, with Quectel), Morse Micro ended up staging a legitimately impressive (and record-setting) field test, showcasing enhancements it made to the range capabilities of Wi-Fi HaLow. For context (and according to research directly from the Wi-Fi Alliance (News - Alert)), Wi-Fi HaLow’s range is already longer than plenty of IoT and smart city-centric alternatives, especially when you factor in the distance with how robust the connections can truly be (through even some of the most problematic barriers in challenging regions, to boot). Previous range data for Wi-Fi HaLow once hovered in the ballpark of 1 kilometer, but Morse Micro took it a step further – in San Francisco’s Ocean Beach neighborhood, the company was able to achieve a 3-kilometer range, made possible by Micro’s Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow system-on-chip (SoC) solution. This offers powerful wireless capabilities for future IoT applications.
Now, having accomplished great things separately, Mouser Electronics and Morse Micro are coming together.
This week, the two announced a global distribution agreement. Mouser Electronics is now officially stocking Morse Micro’s aforementioned Wi-Fi HaLow modules and development tools, ready for IoT innovators in IIoT, commercial, and residential markets.
For example, Morse Micro’s MM6108-MF08651-US Wi-Fi HaLow module. This fully integrated module offers long-range, low-power consumption and superior RF performance (plus Morse Micro’s Wi-Fi HaLow SoC). This simplifies HaLow-centric implementations by using an integrated power amplifier (Pa), a low-noise amplifier (LNA) an da transmit-receive switch (T/R). FCC (News - Alert)-certified for frequences between 902 MHz and 928 MHz (with a maximum data rate of 32.5 Mbps), this module is ideal for transitioning away from legacy technologies and supports the latest WPA3 security protocols for secure applications.
