We’ve talked about them before on Industrial IoT News (specifically, in this story here), so let’s do it again today.
Namely, Rockwell Automation and NVIDIA (News - Alert).
Rockwell is a well-known provider of next-gen IIoT manufacturing solutions, and we’ve featured the company in a handful of articles; Rockwell supporting Falcon Group via improvements to the ThingWorx IIoT platform, along with its strategic acquisition of Clearpath Robotics for transformative autonomous production logistics solutions, an additional acquisition of Verve Industrial Automation, and its partnership with Microsoft (News - Alert) aimed at accelerating industrial automation design and development through the power of generative AI (GenAI)
The short-and-sweet of this?
Rockwell Automation (News - Alert) is no stranger to smart collaboration.
In that vein, we’ve previously covered Rockwell’s collab with none other than NVIDIA. The plan? Accelerate next-gen industrial architecture for manufacturers via GenAI and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs).
In that April story, one detail touched on Rockwell’s plans to go a step further and integrate NVIDIA’s Omniverse Cloud Platform-as-a-Service APIs with Rockwell’s Emulate3D, designed to utilize dynamic digital twin software for sharpening operator skills and resolving real-world building and production challenges.
Today, we’ve got another Rockwell-NVIDIA slice of news to share:
Earlier this month, Rockwell announced that it is slated to work with NVIDIA on even more robotics for a variety of IoT use cases.
As we know, Rockwell brings AMRs and production automation applications to customers looking for measurably increased efficiencies in industrial settings like factories, as well as other work environments. Now, it’s also going to, according to the official announcement, “unlock unrealized potential for IoT via the integration of the NVIDIA Isaac robotics platform.” (For context, NVIDIA Isaac helps users harness the latest advancements in accelerated computing, physically based simulations, and GenAI to quickly build more accurate, performant machines.) And with NVIDIA Isaac ROS (Robot Operating System) software framework, millions of developers will benefit from the accessibility of NVIDIA-accelerated libraries of AI models to expedite IoT deployment workflows.
“We're invigorated by this continued collaboration with NVIDIA,” said Ryan Gariepy, CTO, OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation. “Rockwell's industrial AI expertise, combined with NVIDIA AI and robotics technologies, is going to help drive an exciting new generation of autonomous mobile robots and more within the connected enterprise."
