The weekend’s almost here, readers. I hope y’all have some good plans; over here, it’s thankfully looking like a whole lot of R&R (which, trust me, I’ll gladly take).
However — despite TGIF vibes aplenty — we’ve still got some time to cover the news, and today’s involves Internet of Things (IoT) developments, Industry 4.0, and Digi International.
Since 1985, Digi has specialized in a variety of reliable wireless solutions. Before the Internet of Things became mainstream, Digi built M2M devices. Once “of Things” markets hit the big leagues, in a manner of speaking, Digi worked hard on adapting to network standards as they evolved. This pursuit led to its rigorous optimization of data communications around countless advanced protocols and emerging technologies. (e.g. RF modems to gateways, cellular routers, networking devices, embedded SOM, SBCs, etc.)
Now in 2024 (nearly 2025; time really does fly), Digi has even more on offer.
Earlier this year, I sat down with Ben Tucker, Digi International’s (News - Alert) Director of Product Management for the company’s Infrastructure Management division.
Then, over the summer, we covered Digi’s partnership with Atsign. Their goal together? Empower more effective Industry 4.0 deployments with a robust and secure remote access solution, thereby safeguarding critical edge infrastructure).
This leads us to the company’s official launch of Digi 360.
Digi 360 is a subscription-based offering that supports ease-of-use, deployment visibility and optimized ROI for Digi cellular routers. As the Digi team describes, “Digi 360 offers comprehensive cellular solutions, including purpose-built devices, software and services, to help customers optimize their IoT investments and maximize ROI. These complete solutions are designed to simplify IoT complexity, and ease the challenges enterprises face in configuring, deploying and managing their IoT initiatives.”
As highlighted in this article’s top image, the central components of Digi 360 are as follows:
“Digi 360 stands as the definitive solution for secure wireless connectivity deployments,” explained Landon Reese, Vice President of Product Management at Digi International. “Bringing together software, management capabilities, state-of-the-art edge devices and expert support into a unified, comprehensive package, Digi 360 ensures our customers experience unmatched efficiency, security and reliability while enjoying significant cost savings.”
Reese commented further, describing how “Digi 360 offers so much more than connectivity; it’s a complete, secure solution that eases complexity, alleviating the challenges in configuring, deploying and managing IoT deployments. Designed to evolve with the always-in-flux IoT landscape, Digi 360 provides our customers with a future-proof investment as well as much-needed peace of mind.”
