By Alex Passett January 13, 2025

Good Monday afternoon, readers.

This week’s first story involves Trimble and Qualcomm. Let’s get into it.

Trimble (News - Alert) has announced an official extension of its ongoing collaboration with Qualcomm. Together, between now and 2028, they aim to deliver precise positioning solutions for autonomous vehicles.

“We improve performance through innovations that increase precision, drive efficiencies, and expand access to real-time insights,” one Trimble representative wrote. “This is about making a tangible difference for vehicle owners, carriers and shippers.”

Here are the long-story-short points regarding this continued Trimble-Qualcomm (News - Alert) collab:

Per Olivier Casabianca, Vice President of Positioning Services at Trimble:

“Continued success between Qualcomm Technologies and Trimble is a testament to our joint innovation and delivery of solutions that help make higher levels of ADAS and C-V2X a reality for the automotive and telecom industries. Together, we are ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and are empowering our customers to operate with confidence. While fully automated vehicles and trucking are still in the development stages, we are making great strides in providing technology to meet the requirements of greater levels of autonomy.”

And per Jeff Arnold, Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm:

“We are committed to delivering driver-assistance technologies with a focus on achieving automated driving and creating a system that accurately responds to its surroundings. Our continued collaboration with Trimble allows us to add more accurate positioning to our technology stack that enhances our commitment to maintaining the highest levels of safety and system reliability.”
