I've Asked the Security Experts, But It's Time You Have Your Say

By Carl Ford June 27, 2025

Some of you many have noticed I have been gathering information from experts about their cybersecurity strategies. They all sound competent and I have no doubt customers would benefit from the best practices and software they provide.

Unfortunately, they are not the whole story. I believe that it’s a rare company that retrofits its existing infrastructure with new systems. In particular, Zero Trust strikes me as something that can rapidly slip deadlines and reprioritize what systems are essential to being updated or upgraded. While I can believe the CISO will say it all needs to be done, I am sure that pressure from upstairs on staying on time will drive decisions to revisit this on a new budget cycle.

Unfortunately, that day may never come.

But, I’d like to help change that and am asking for your help, which you can do by fill out this survey about the State of Cybersecurity.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MT322PB

The survey is part of a global research initiative led by James Brehm & Associates, IoT Evolution, and the Erasmus Mundus CYBERUS Master’s Program in Cybersecurity, coordinated by Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

Our goal is to uncover key trends, risks, and best practices shaping the current and future state of IoT security across industries, regions, and deployment models.  For that, we need your input, and please understand, all responses will be anonymized and used and used only for research purposes.

I will warn you in advance, there are a lot of questions, and if you don’t have time to fill it all out that’s fine.  But, I hope you will and thank you for taking the time to hear me out and hopefully help us deliver some insightful research from the results.
