Zurich Selects TomTom Fleet Management

By Raju Shanbhag October 10, 2012

Navigation technology has not only brought about a considerable change in the way we travel, but it has also brought numerous other benefits to travel related industries. Since navigation technology can also be used to locate a vehicle and its driver, law enforcement agencies and even vehicle insurance agencies are utilizing this.

Recently, TomTom has announced that Zurich Germany selected the company’s fleet management solution to offer the telematics feature for its newly introduced offering, Zurich Fleet Intelligence (ZFI).

ZFI is a combined fleet management service that caters to the needs of corporate users. With features such as vehicle telematics, reporting, driver development tools and risk engineering support, the new service looks to bring about many positive changes in the system.

Assisting companies to actively enhance driver safety, decrease operational expenses and reduce environmental impact, TomTom technology will be important to the proposition. Allowing both drivers and fleet managers to track and analyze performance depending on expanded fleet management data, ZFI users will now get on-line access to the Zurich proprietary risk management Web portal.

“This is further recognition for the contribution that TomTom fleet management makes to driver safety and risk reduction, helping businesses to run greener, safer and more efficient fleets,” added Thomas Schmidt, Managing Director TomTom Business Solutions. “Today’s announcement illustrates how successful our strategy to leverage tried and tested TomTom technology in new markets is proving.”

Recently, the company announced that it was allowing over-the-air delivery of third-party, pre-defined routes into its Pro Series of navigation devices.
