Experience M2M Technologies Hands-On at M2M Evolution Conference & Expo

By Rachel Ramsey January 28, 2013

A hot topic in the technology space that is expected to be especially present in 2013 is machine to machine (M2M) technologies. M2M technology allows machines to talk to each other to enable the transmission and translation of any wired or wireless data into actionable business information, connecting millions of diverse devices to a network to enable two-way communication. Organizations connecting M2M devices to a network can quickly see the potential savings in time, cost and labor.

Rogers Communications expects to power more than one million M2M connections before the end of this year, and expects the market revenue for the overall M2M ecosystem in Canada to reach $1 billion in the next three years. According to AdaptiveMobile, up to five billion M2M devices that communicate over mobile networks could be in operation by 2020.

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, ILS Technology will be hosting an M2M workshop to experience the deviceWISE M2M application platform, which securely connects intelligent devices to each other and to the enterprise, eliminating unnecessary layers in the information chain. The workshop aims to prove that implementing M2M doesn’t have to be complicated or costly.

deviceWISE links any device to any application to enable real-time information transfer, transaction logging and bi-directional control. deviceWISE allows users to make business decisions based on real-time data, thus streamlining business operations and meeting compliance standards. ILS Technology provides the world’s only ready-to-use, off-the-shelf cloud platform to connect enterprise IT systems to the devices and machines on which businesses depend. The company offers solutions that are easy to deploy to any device, without the need for months of complex programming or development, offering unparalleled security to protect company and customer data and ensure regulatory compliance.

The workshop will be led by John Keever, chief technology officer and Jim Wert, general manager and vice president, engineering – the experts behind the deviceWise M2M application platform.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, participants of the workshop will develop an M2M application on the deviceWise platform, creating connections to intelligent devices, establishing device connections to the network/cloud, creating alerts and triggers and creating device interactions directly with an enterprise IT system.

Following the hands-on section of the workshop will be an analyst roundtable, “M2M Insights for 2013: Are we there yet?” featuring James Brehm, senior strategist & consultant, Compass Intelligence; Robin Duke-Woolley, founder & CEO, Beecham Research; and Craig Resnick, vice president, GroupConsulting, ARC Advisory.

Tuesday will also feature Battle of the Platforms, an exciting opportunity to hear and see cutting-edge platform solutions from leading companies poised to help manage and deliver M2M solutions, which will be conducted at 2 p.m.  Participants will close the day with a cocktail reception, held at 5 p.m.

Registering for the workshop is free, and includes the ILS workshop, Battle of the Platforms, exhibits, keynotes and networking receptions. Attendees also have the option to register for the workshop and M2M Evolution Conference, which includes the ILS workshop, Battle of the Platforms, exhibits, keynotes, networking receptions and all M2M breakout sessions.
