IoT Evolution Exclusive: Systech to Add IoT Scripting Software to Gateways

By

Systech Corporation is set to announce next week that it will add new capabilities to its SysLINK IoT hardware gateways to enable local intelligence. The new suite will be called SysSCRIPT Lite, and will be added to the entire line of gateways at no additional cost.

SysSCRIPT provides “if this, then that” (IFTTT) functionality without the need for Internet connectivity and is designed to be a beginner-friendly scripting solution using visual elements to make IoT programming simple to do, without requiring technical training. The end result is that development time can be compressed from months to minutes by non-technical employees. For example, with just a few simple commands, SysSCRIPT can be programmed to open a valve when the temperature goes up, or sound an alert if flooding is detected, or contact a manager if a safety issue is detected.

When system integrators, VARS, and end users are able to create IoT applications to meet their specific needs, with little development time, the potential usability of the IoT goes way up. With the full version of SysSCRIPT, external devices may be monitored and controlled, such as switches, valves, temperatures, lighting, sound and physical vibrations.

“We are not talking about just an incremental improvement,” said Robert Lutz, senior business development director, Systech. “Systech’s new SysSCRIPT solution provides an order of magnitude improvement in IoT deployment time. And, sooner to market means sooner to revenue.”

The speed of Systech’s system was demonstrated at the recent IoT Evolution Expo. Attendees were provided the opportunity to create their own IoT applications, using Systech hardware and software in the exhibit. Many IoT applications were created in under five minutes.

Although custom coding is often desirable for complex or proprietary IoT solutions, simple coding options for non-coders is the wave of the future for most executions in the mass market IoT.
