Narrowband Wireless Solution Integrates Cloud and Connectivity for IIoT

By

Cambium Networks, a global provider of wireless networking solutions, has launched its cnReach narrowband radio for reliable and secure transmissions across long distances, designed to provide high security and connectivity Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications in oil and gas, and electric and water utilities. The product supports licensed and unlicensed operations in the 900 MHz and 700 MHz frequencies and eases the transition from serial networks to all-IP networks with extensive built-in I/O capabilities.

cnReach extends Cambium Networks’ wireless connectivity solutions to the last meter and the company has linked it to its other products so it can be monitored and managed end-to-end from a single interface.

“cnReach enables utilities, petrochemical operators and other mission critical organizations to unleash the full value of the Industrial Internet by turning accumulated and real-time data into insightful knowledge and critical actions,” said Bruce Collins, Director, Product Management for cnReach, Cambium Networks. “cnReach provides the underlying communications infrastructure that is highly reliable and resilient for interconnecting sensors and controls across a large-scale field area network. This connectivity provides the vital data and control functions needed to meet compliance requirements, improve safety, and boost efficiency.”

Last year, the company unveiled its cnMaestro cloud-based network lifecycle management solution for rapid deployment and operations of networks with up to hundreds of thousands of devices. The company’s cnPilot cloud-managed 802.11ac WiFi solution for indoor and outdoor industrial enterprise connectivity is another recent addition to the portfolio. Additional RF bands will be supported in the coming months including solutions in the 100, 200 and 400 MHz frequency ranges.

“The narrowband connectivity of cnReach extends the communications infrastructure and backhaul, so we now have the capability and visibility to manage the entire network end-to-end,” said Mike Mitchell, President, Petro Communications. “We require completely dependable connections to process sensor data and send control commands to the most remote locations in the field.”

cnReach is available now through Cambium Networks distributors in North America. Cambium Networks will be hosting a webinar on the cnReach platform on September 15 at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
