George Mulhern is the CEO of Cradlepoint, a provider of cloud enabled, multi-WAN supported networking and routing solutions to distributed enterprises. At the Conference, he will be a Keynote speaker on Tuesday morning.

IoT Evolution: What will be some key points you plan to hit in your keynote?

Mulhern: There are some significant challenges to reach IoT Utopia. But, there are some smart steps that companies and the industry in general can take to have successful IoT implementations now and prepare for utopia.

IoTE: What new insights can attendees expect to take home?

GM: Dark cloud networking has an important role to play for IoT security in the near and far term. Interoperability and ease of use are not negotiable in the near term. Smart gateways will be the wave to ride until the utopia arrives.

IoTE: Can you identify a few important trends influencing your sector of the IoT which will shape the path of the industry? Why these?

GM: Attacks on traditional IP-based networks. Continued technology improvements positioning LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi as universal transport modes for IoT

IoTE: What are the biggest challenges facing the IoT?

GM: Security is top, followed by interoperability, and then connectivity.

IoTE: Which vertical markets have the most to gain from IoT implementation?

GM: Healthcare, manufacturing, and government

IoTE: What content are you most looking forward to attending at the Expo?

GM: I am looking forward to the other keynote addresses, because I am interested to hear what my peers and industry experts are saying at a strategic level.
