B-Scada, a data access and visualization solutions provider for the industrial industry, is kicking off 2015 strong by unveiling its new Internet of Things (IoT) initiative at ITEXPO 2015, taking place now through January 30 in Miami, Florida. B-Scada CEO Ron DeSerranno discussed details of the company’s new reveal with IoTevolutionworld at Editor’s Day.
“Imagine the guy sitting in front of several computer screens looking down at a factory floor,” he said. “We want to help those people dealing with multiple disparate systems by bringing everything onto one, centralized platform so that users can fully optimize the information at their disposal to improve operations and processes.”
“There’s a big gap in the way people are looking at things right now,” DeSerranno said. Specifically, companies are overlooking the significant impact that data analytics can have on their ability to improve core workflows and processes.
That’s where B-Scada’s Virtualization of Things (VoT) platform comes into play. Built on a service-oriented OPC unified architecture, the platform aggregates multiple disparate data sources and represents them in a virtual model that retrieves live data. This virtrualized model allows users to structure and organize data in a way that enables ease of management and maintenance, providing real-time context that transforms disparate data into actionable, useful information. Even more, this information can be accessed using any Internet-connected device (i.e. smartphone, tablet, PC).
“The process involves much more than just monitoring,” DeSerranno said. “That’s just the tip of the iceberg; it’s about collecting the data and being able to analyze it and turn it into something useful. We don’t see a lot of companies doing that in the IoT space.” B-Scada’s new IoT initiative allows users do just that, which leads to a number of competitive advantages such as decreased development time; more intelligent and relevant mimics; and faster, easier access to data from any desktop or mobile device running an HTML5-capable browser.
