Sensus Acquires Equity Stake in Brazil's CAS Tecnologia

Sensus reportedly bought a 15-percent equity position in Brazilian smart grid vendor CAS Tecnologia (CAS) as part of its plan to expand into the Latin American smart grid market and realize dynamic growth for its electric and water infrastructure offerings

CAS Tecnologia applies technology, science and engineering to develop solutions that solve critical problems for its clients, contributing to greater efficiency in corporate processes, governance and sustainability.

As part of the partnership, Sensus will distribute the CAS Hemera utility data management platform in the global marketplace. The partnership is stated to be beneficial for both the companies – while Sensus gets to expand its Latin American presence, CAS will be leveraging the Sensus smart endpoints and communications technologies to gain access into the quick growing worldwide electric and water utility markets.

CAS Tecnologia explained that its CAS Hemera combines tools that help dealers and distributors in the continuous monitoring of their customers, offering the opportunity to manage the distribution of electricity, water and gas in order to reduce losses and maintain revenue assurance.

Developed for operational and strategic support for dealers and distributors, the solution contributes to the optimization of time and resources for the whole process of measurement, analysis, action and billing.

“This is the latest step in our strategic growth initiative, which is to accelerate our presence in targeted markets, expand our offerings in the smart water network and smart grid markets and accelerate the adoption of our core technologies in one of the fastest growing economies in the world,” said Jose Antonio Hernandez, Sensus executive vice president. “Given that CAS is the region's leader for smart grid, AMI and distribution automation technology and that our products are highly complementary, we see tremendous opportunities for both Sensus and CAS in the Americas and worldwide.”

By offering communications by CAS, metering technologies and business analytics will improve operational and distribution efficiency for utility customers around the globe.
