Australian Electricity Retailer to Offer EnerNOC's DemandSMART and EfficiencySMART to Customers

Australian electricity retailer, ERM Power recently announced that it has selected DemandSMART, a comprehensive demand response application, and EfficiencySMART, a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) energy efficiency application, from EnerNOC, Inc., to help its customers manage energy consumption. EnerNOC is a provider of energy management applications.

In a statement, Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC, said that, "EnerNOC's Utility Solutions offerings have traditionally focused on providing utilities with turnkey demand response and energy efficiency resources, including everything from sales and marketing to enablement and delivery, but our cloud-based approach makes it easy for innovative companies like ERM Power to offer a branded experience, leveraged by the extensibility of the EnerNOC platform.”

In this collaboration, ERM Power will handle customer recruitment as well as contracting activities along with its commercial, industrial, and institutional customers within the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM). EnerNOC, on the other hand, will offer its cloud-based software applications while its Utility Solutions team will be the program implementer responsible for conducting site audits and supplying the required equipment. The team will also offer support to the program via its Network Operations Centers (NOCs), which also includes the newest NOC (News - Alert) set up in Melbourne, Victoria.

ERM Power traders leveraging EnerNOC's Utility Portal will be able to use customer demand response resources to eliminate price hikes in the NEM, which in turn will serve to bring down costs for all ERM Power customers. Furthermore, the company will be able to keep track of its customers' performance in real time, which will help in meeting energy reduction targets. DemandSMART will offer participating customers with access to their energy data in real-time as well as dispatch performance data via a Web portal and mobile/tablet applications.

EnerNOC's Utility Solutions offerings deliver both program implementation services and consulting services to system operators, utilities and electricity suppliers located across the globe. The company provides these entities with information and advices on customer engagement and program design, and also offers the demand response and energy efficiency implementation services which help in simplifying delivery of demand-side management programs in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
