Oracle and Verizon Team Up to Bring Cloud to Global Organizations

According to a recent announcement, Oracle will now offer its customers new connections to its Cloud via Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect services, which will, the company hopes, enable enterprises to more easily move workloads to the Oracle Cloud.

With Verizon Secure Cloud Interconnect for Oracle FastConnect, customers can now connect to Oracle Cloud data center sites located in the U.S. and Europe. Enterprises can now tap into the service’s Software Defined Networking (SDN) capabilities to gain greater control and agility over their cloud environments, the release stated, including consumption-based bandwidth, pre-provisioned on-demand resources, and controlled application performance.

“With Verizon's leading Secure Cloud Interconnect service, Oracle customers can benefit from the latest in networking technology as they continually groom their networks to handle the demands of their business,” said Diby Malakar, VP, product management, Oracle. “We are providing multiple ways for our customers to deploy their applications in the way that makes good business sense via what is arguably one of the industry's most reliable networking platforms.”

Customers will be able to store data in a variety of settings, including a traditional IT environment, and a dedicated on or off premises cloud, making it easier to scale and meet changing business conditions.

With Oracle, Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect now offers access to nine cloud providers: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, HPE Rapid Connect, IBM Cloud Softlayer, Microsoft ExpressRoute for Office 365TM, Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, Microsoft Azure Government, Salesforce, SAP, and Verizon Cloud and Enterprise Cloud Federal Edition.
