IoTevolutionworld Award Winner FreeWave Celebrates 20 Years in Business

By Brittany Walters-Bearden August 26, 2013

Founded in 1993, Boulder, Colo.-based FreeWave Technologies has announced that it is celebrating its 20th year in the M2M industry. In a recent statement, FreeWave noted that this was a significant milestone because, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2011 Business Dynamics Statistics, only 13 percent of Colorado businesses were established 20 or more years ago.

Steve Wulchin, CEO of FreeWave Technologies, calls the business’s 20th anniversary “a time to celebrate and thank our employees for their dedication to excellence in serving our customers.” He added that the company’s recent move into a new, larger space to “accommodate for growth” provides the company with “an opportunity to reflect upon not only what we’ve accomplished, but toward the future of FreeWave.”

When FreeWave Technologies won IoTevolutionworld’s 2012 M2M Evolution Product of the Year Award for its GXM 2.4 GHz global wireless transceiver module, IoTevolutionworld CEO Rich Tehrani stated that he looked forward to “seeing more innovation from FreeWave in the future,” which the company has delivered on. To see more innovative M2M companies, check out M2M Evolution Conference & Expo this week, Aug. 26-27, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Not only has it expanded and celebrated a milestone anniversary, FreeWave Technologies has pioneered a reliable communications network for the command and control of UAVs during combat play, the 2.4 GHz Spartan Series, which according to IoTevolutionworld contributing writer Kelsey Brown “ultimately allows users to function across L and S band and thus comply with their C2 link requirement.” The solution was named a “Made in America” finalist in the fifth annual Golden Bridge Awards.

FreeWave has more than just the military in mind—in their 20 years, the company has provided solutions that help provide food in the agriculture energy and support operational efficiency in energy sectors. Based on the first 20 years of innovation, the M2M industry has a great deal to look forward to FreeWave contributing over the course of its next 20 years of operation.
