In a recent announcement, Telit, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), has introduced the RE866A1-EU, its LoRaWAN protocol, Bluetooth low energy (BLE) IoT combo module. With the addition of LoRaWAN technology, BLE and Wi-Fi to NB-IoT, Cat M and to other cellular standards, the company said it plans to continue to enable integrators to design devices that can be deployed with different variants, leveraging the technology that is best suited to each individual deployment area or use case, both in business and technical terms.
The company also announced that it has joined the LoRa Alliance, an open, non-profit association of more than 450 members in the IoT ecosystem for standardizing low power wide area networks (LPWAN) being deployed around the world to enable IoT, machine-to-machine (M2M), smart city and industrial applications.

The new module is compliant with the latest LoRaWAN standard, and reportedly is designed for public or private networks, smart metering, remote sensing, industrial automation/monitoring and control, wireless alarm and security systems, agriculture, asset tracking, street lighting and smart city applications.
